    Traditional knowlege is being collected, stored and verified as part of a project by Met services in the pacific along with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Program (S.P.R.E.P).

    Meteorological services in the Pacific Islands have common challenges, and these will be discussed at the Fourth Pacific Meteorological Council Meeting in Honiara next week.

    In Honiara, ‘Ofa Fa’anunu, Director of Tonga Met and Pacific Meteorological Council Chair said the meeting is a chance for meteorological services to come together and discuss their priorities and challenges.

    Pacific journalists prepare for regional climate and weather meetings

    Pacific journalists are in Honiara this week for a Pacific Islands Media and Meteorological Services Training in preparation for two important regional climate and weather meetings next week.

    Training began on August 9 for more than 20 journalists from around the region. They will also cover the Fourth Pacific Meteorological Council on August 14-17 and the Second Pacific Ministerial Meeting on Meteorology on August 18, in Honiara.
